About
The Instructor:
ArtVentures is the creative project of artist Mia M. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson studied art in Florida at the Kathryn Jackson School of Art & Design. She has had the opportunity to work under the direction of several reputable artists including Kathryn Jackson, Donald Neal, Jackie Moore, and Maceo Golson. Her major focus has been portraits and landscapes. Mrs. Robinson's portraits are in private collections throughout the U.S. She also was commissioned by the Charles County Library System for the 2001 Women’s Calendar. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Panama City, W. Palm Beach, & Miami Fl., Omaha Nebraska and Charles County Maryland. She has also studied Psychology and Early Childhood Education.
Several years ago Mrs. Robinson decided to pass on her experience to the younger generation through her private art classes taught by her, while acting Director at the UHC Homeschool Fellowship Enrichment Classes Program which was her inspiration for starting an art studio for kids.
In June 2004, Mrs. Robinson opened the ArtVentures Studio in her home. The art studio has a workshop and a arts and crafts gallery to display the kid’s artwork.
In 2005, Mrs. Robinson turned her attention to developing new classes for older students, all with the same careful, well thought out approach. Like her early childhood art classes, these classes give her students an opportunity to continue to explore and develop their creative interests.
As an artist and a homeschool mother of 18 years, she understands the importance of introducing art and creative exploration to children at a very early age. She is very excited to be able to offer age appropriate creative art classes to young children, kids & teens in the Southern Maryland area.
Mrs. Robinson has worked in the Fine Arts field for over 25 years. She believes learning is a life long process, and takes classes and attends workshops regularly.

We also have drawing boards, painting easels, a wide range of paints, watercolor paper, collage materials, clay, modeling mediums, assemblage materials and much more. We have several computer arts workstations with a Wifi color printer for children to explore the wide range of computer graphics and painting programs. ASFK&T also has a visual art and art history library. |
Highlights Include:
Realistic 3D models
Our extensive collection of 3D models includes realistic animals and sea creatures, fantasy, and sports figures, everyday objects, flowers, and much more. By drawing, painting, and sculpting from 3D models, kids learn shape and proportion in a powerful way not available just from pictures.
Library
We have a collection of well over 200 art, science,
math, geography, literature and various craft books in which students use to
inform their creative inquiry.
Digital Art
Our graphic arts workstations are equipped with four computers. Several simpler drawing and painting programs are available to less experienced students. All computers are networked so kids can save and print their art.
Traditional Media
Traditional materials are still the cornerstone of a good creative arts program. At ArtVentures, kids work with pencil, charcoal, water media, acrylics, clay, and mixed media materials to develop their art making skills.
Regardless of their interest, kids can work seamlessly in a wide range of mediums to expand their creativity.
